The Angmering School “delighted” by OfSted outcome
According to the recently published OfSted report The Angmering School is a consistently ‘Good’ school where “Leaders have created an environment that has a strong focus on learning and high quality pastoral care.”
The school has now been graded as ‘Good’ in all OfSted areas; Leadership, Quality of Education, Behaviour and Attitudes, Personal Development, Sixth Form and Overall Effectiveness.
The report praises leaders and other staff, saying “Leaders have worked tirelessly to improve the school since the previous inspection. They have designed an ambitious curriculum and a comprehensive training programme for staff.” and that “Teachers … support and challenge pupils . This motivates pupils to find out more about the different subjects and topics.”
The inspection was not limited to work in the classroom either. The inspectors were impressed that “There is a wide range of extra curricular activities.” and that “Leaders promote pupils’ personal development very well, including in the sixth form .”
The school’s successful Sixth Form also came in for praise with inspectors noting that “In the sixth form, teachers develop students’ independence by using well chosen activities” and noted that “Students discover what university life is like through trips to local universities.”.
The headteacher, Mr Simon Liley, responded to the publication of the report by saying “We are all delighted that we now have an OfSted inspection report and set of grades which more accurately reflect the excellent work being done by teachers with and for our students. I am immensely proud of all of the hard work which students, teachers, support staff and governors have put in over the past few years to bring us this far. We are all extremely positive about the future of our great school.”
