Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust visit
Our Year 13 Geography, and Year 13 Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)students had a trip to the
Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust in Arundel.
The purpose of the trip was to demonstrate to students how to effectively collect, use, analyse and
report on primary data (i.e. data they have collected themselves). These are essential skills
needed for both the EPQ Qualification, and NEA (Non Examined Assessment) of the A Level
Geography Course.
At the WWT there were two sessions. Students conducted their own mini investigation on environmental change in a freshwater
ecosystem (pond dipping). They also went on a ‘Wetland Conservation in Action’ walk, at which the staff demonstrated what primary data they collect and why, the methods they use, the limitations of their work, and how they then analyse and use the information collected.
